Our Story

Welcome To Originally Crowned!
 
Hi, My name is Melissa, and welcome to my corner of the internet. 
God gave me the name for my business “ Originally Crowned” in 2020, and to be honest with you, I wasn’t sure what to do with it or how to proceed with this business.
I looked up to see what the words “original” and crowned” meant and this is what I found:
 
Original - created directly and personally by a particular artist (God); being the first and genuine form of something; not a copy or imitation; Unusual person, different, someone who is creative and imaginative; Something that existed at the beginning of a process; the characteristics that something had when it became or was made.
 
Crowned - To bestow on something a mark of honor or recompense; a royal or imperial headdress of sovereignty; diadem; imperial power or regal power; something that imparts splendor, honor or finish; to recognize officially or to invest with regal dignity and power.
 
At that time, I really didn’t know how to seek God for clarity and instructions or hear His voice clearly for myself... I knew at that time, this business had something to do with teaching women and possibly in the future, children and men, their identity in Christ and how to boldly walk in their position and authority. 
 
Can I be totally transparent with you? 
I didn’t understand how God wanted me to accomplish this because I wasn’t completely sure of my identity at that time myself. I mean, if you asked me “Who is Melissa”, I would tell you I am a mother of two who worked as a high-level executive assistant, daughter, and sister. That was how I saw myself, and I didn’t realize it, but I’d been struggling with rejection, abandonment issues and perfectionism from childhood trauma, and also people-pleasing comparison, mingled in with low self-esteem and self worth from past relationships for a long time. I didn’t fully know who I was, I wasn't doing the work to heal, so how could He use me to help others when I didn’t know how to help and heal myself? 
 
But that’s the funny thing about God, He will put you through the exact thing that He wants you to grow and heal from so that you can  teach and share with others… funny but not funny, LOL!
 
God had me go and grow through situations where I had no choice but to learn who I was in Him. Now, did I fight Him and the process, especially  when it got overwhelming and sometimes too much, running from those intense emotions and feelings… YES YES AND YES!  But there was also a lot of growth, healing and change going on inside of me. He also led me to teachers and mentors who were able to assist  in my journey of healing and identity which I am profoundly grateful for. But God, in the past two years, He has pulled back the curtains and let the light shine in so to speak, of who I am and who He created me to be even before I was even born - His original plan. 
 
Now I don’t have His entire plan about how He wants this to go, but I am being obedient and releasing products and services as He directs me to. I’ve learned that getting things done is better than being perfect, and when God tells you to do something, to do it. He will take your imperfections and make them work together for you, for His Glory! 
 
So ladies and gentlemen… drum roll, please!!!
I present to you, Originally Crowned, a business that I co-own with my Daddy, Abba.
