Hello Crowned in Faith Warriors!!!
Can I be transparent with you for a moment?
I have spent so many years of my life living in “desperate”. Desperate for love; desperate for attention and approval; desperate for acceptance. Desperate to be cared for and seen, acknowledged, and heard by others. Desperate for affection and human contact. Desperate for something or someone to fill this hole, this ache, this need burning on the inside of me.
Have you ever felt like that?
This desperation has led me to do desperate things. Desperate things to pay bills because I had to take care of my child, I had to figure it out and couldn’t see another way. Desperate things that caused me to give up or lose pieces of myself, because of the impossible situations I was in or I put myself in. I did desperate things to keep a man; things that I may not have wanted to do, but didn’t see another way to in my broken thinking, but that to hold onto him, and accept/allow bad and harmful behavior because I didn’t want him to leave.
Desperate is defined as a loss or great need that can make you act irrationally without hope; being reckless or dangerous because of despair; extreme or excessive behavior; making a final ultimate; giving your all; activated by a feeling of hopelessness.
Synonyms: rash, frantic, grave, desolate, determined, bold, dangerous
Antonyms: careful, hopeful, calm, peaceful
This desperation, this despair, this state of being desperate, has led me to accept less than who I am, put me in potentially dangerous situations, and caused me to stay in situations way, way longer than I should have, all because I was desperate. But, I never thought of turning that desperation towards the only ONE who could do something about this ache, void, and need. The only ONE who could save me, enact real change in my life, love me the way I needed, and make a difference in my life. I never was until this moment… desperate for God!
And what I’m learning is that in order for you to be desperate for God, you first need to acknowledge and have a real relationship/ true intimacy with Him.
Desperate is also defined as a deep and intense longing and need for…
So, what that means is that I intensely and deeply needed more of God. I needed more of His presence, more of His love, more of His grace, more of His favor and faithfulness…More of Him!
Abba is THE ONLY ONE who knows me the way I desire to be known by someone …
He created me and knew me and my destiny even before He placed me in my mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT) I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.
He is the only ONE who can truly love, accept, and approve of me the way my heart aches to be (flaws and all). Jeremiah 31:3 (MSG) says, “God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!
He is the only One that knows my future, can change my situation, and direct me back on the right path. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
He is the only One who can take care of me and supply all my wants, needs, and desires.
Psalms 23 (TPT) Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where he restores and revives my life. He opens before me the right path and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to his name. Even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near. You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows. So why would I fear the future? Only goodness and tender love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through, I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
HE IS THE ONLY ONE!
I would encourage you to desperately seek Abba’s face, spend time in His presence and pray to Him; and desperately love on our Father.
Sit at His feet, and allow Him to show you His will and way. Surrender to Him and lay all of your burdens down at His feet and choose to do life with Him every day.
Allow God to come into you/ into your life and move as only He can move. Allow Him to show you whom He created you to be, your true identity.
Give Him your eternal “Yes” and stay desperate for our Father every day.
Here are some scriptures to encourage you:
Psalms 63:1-11 TPT
O God of my life, I’m lovesick for you in this weary wilderness. I thirst with the deepest longing to love you more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described. Such yearning grips my soul for you, my God! I’m energized every time I enter your heavenly sanctuary to seek more of your power and drink in more of your glory. For your tender mercies mean more to me than life itself. How I love and praise you, God!
Daily I will worship you passionately and with all my heart. My arms will wave to you like banners of praise. I overflow with praise when I come before you, for the anointing of your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul. I lie awake each night thinking of you and reflecting on how you help me like a father. I sing through the night under your splendor-shadow, offering up to you my songs of delight and joy! With passion I pursue and cling to you. Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to your heart. Those who plot to destroy me shall descend into the darkness of hell. They will be consumed by their own evil and become nothing more than dust under our feet. These liars will be silenced forever! But with the anointing of a king I will dance and rejoice along with all his devoted lovers who trust in him.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 Voice
For I know the plans I have for you," says the Eternal, "plans for peace, not evil, to give you a future and hope-never forget that. At that time, you will call out for Me, and I will hear. You will pray, and I will listen. You will look for Me intently, and you will find Me. Yes, I will be found by you," says the Eternal, "and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations where you've been scattered-all the places where I have driven you. I will bring you back to the land that is your rightful home.
Psalms 31:14-15 TPT
I’m desperate, Lord! I throw myself upon you, for you alone are my God! My life, my every moment, my destiny—it’s all in your hands. So I know you can deliver me from those who persecute me relentlessly.
Psalms 102:1-2 TPT
Lord, listen to my prayer! Listen to my cry for help! You can’t hide your face from me on the day of my distress. Stoop down to hear my prayer and answer me quickly, Lord!
Psalm 91:14-16 MSG
If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!
Make the decision today to be desperate for God instead of people or things.
I pray that this blessed and encouraged you today.
Till next time, love y’all!!
xoxo Melissa
