Hi, Crowned In Faith Warriors!
It's a new year, and if you’re like most people before the clock hit 12:00 am on January 1st, you were probably already planning out your New Year resolutions. I don't know about you, and maybe you are really great at sticking with it, but as for me, I used to not be great at sticking to all my resolutions. Somewhere in the middle of it, I would either forget, lack the motivation to continue, or get tired and frustrated because the results I desired weren't happening fast enough (like working out and wanting those 10 pounds to drop off in 2-4 weeks.). LOL!
It can be very frustrating and disheartening, this process of setting intentions and goals, but not seeing the results you desire. Now, what if I told you that there was a better way? A powerful alternative to resolutions that can bring lasting change AND fulfillment in your life?
Sounds woo-woo, doesn’t it? But I'm talking about partnering with God and decreeing and declaring what He says over your life.
You see, when we make resolutions, we are basing our decisions and actions on OUR own abilities and understanding. But when we align ourselves with God's word and declare His promises over our lives, we are tapping into the power of God, who is the Creator of everything.
Zechariah 4:6 says, Not by my power or might, but by Your Spirit…
We need God's Spirit in us, to help give us the strength, power, and focus to stay on track with our goals. It's not something that we can do consistently by ourselves.
Isaiah 55:11, says, "So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
When we speak God's word over our lives, we are trusting that it will not return void. God cannot lie. His Words will accomplish what He has purposed for us, and bring success in the areas of our lives where we need it most.
So, instead of making resolutions this year, I encourage you to start decreeing and declaring God's promises over your life.
Here are 10 declarations to get you started:
I am loved and accepted by God (John 3:16)
I am forgiven and made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I am strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9)
I am blessed and highly favored (Luke 1:28)
I am healed by the stripes of Jesus (Isaiah 53:5)
I am a victorious overcomer (1 John 4:4)
I am a daughter of the King (2 Corinthians 6:18)
I am filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)
I am prosperous and successful (Jeremiah 29:11)
I am secure in God's love and protection (Psalm 91:4)
So, as you declare these truths over your life, remember that God's word is powerful and effective, but you must believe. Believe and trust that as you partner yourself with His promises, you will see the change and fulfillment that both you and God desire in your life.
Also, here are 2 journal prompts for you to reflect and sit with Abba about as you create your declaration statements with Him:
Reflect on a past resolution that you made and didn't achieve. What do you think was missing in your approach? How can you change your approach in the future to align with decreeing and declaring God's promises?
Take a few minutes to read through the 10 declarations in the blog post and ask God to reveal which resonates with you the most. Write down the declaration and spend some time meditating on it. How can you incorporate this truth into your daily thoughts and actions? How can you begin to declare this promise over your life?
